Which Rock & Ruddle option should you choose? Here's a guide:
- XL Luxury (approx 9.25 x 3.25") Mixed Bristle: exceptional for long or thick hair, or for hair extensions.
- Large (approx 8.5 x 2.5") Mixed Bristle: perfect for hair with typical length and thickness.
- Small (approx 7 x 2") Mixed Bristle: ideal for children, short hairstyles, a handbag, or traveling.
- Baby Brush (approx 7 x 2") Super Soft Natural Bristle: for babies or a delicate scalp with extra fragile hair.
What Makes a Rock & Ruddle Hairbrush So Special? Rock & Ruddle hairbrushes are made with natural boar bristles, which are renowned for caring for your hair due to their structure being similar to human hair. Each bristle glides through your hair, conditioning as it spreads the natural oils from your scalp, making your hair look and feel shiny and healthy. Our bestselling Mixed Bristle hairbrush also has a nylon tip in each bristle bundle which is ideal for detangling and styling. This combination of bristles is excellent for stimulating and exfoliating your scalp to encourage hair growth, while also being gentle enough to not tug on hair. Unlike other hairbrushes of their type, Rock & Ruddle hairbrushes have a removable bristle pad for thorough cleaning, making it possible to replace just the bristle pad after a long period of use, rather than replacing a full brush.
Our most popular bristle pad type is Mixed Bristle and comes installed by default, except for Baby Brushes which come with Extra Soft Baby Bristles. You may submit a special request with your order to change out your bristle pad type for any LARGE or SMALL hairbrush by indicating in the Notes section which particular brush design you would like to switch and to which bristle type. These additional options include Pure Natural Bristle (Boar Bristles Only, without Nylon Pins for detangling), Synthetic Mixed Bristle (Vegan-friendly Bristles mixed with Nylon Pins), and Extra Soft Baby Bristle (for any Small size brush design). All of these bristle pad types are also available for individual purchase on this website, either for having an additional type of bristle pad on hand if desired, or to eventually replace an existing bristle pad after extended use. We are happy to recommend a bristle pad option for your hair type if you email us@rockandruddle.com.
Caring for Your Rock & Ruddle Hairbrush: Avoid direct heat on the bristles or submerging the whole brush in any liquid. If the bristle pad gets excessively wet, remove the bristle pad and allow it to air dry before replacing it. Whenever you feel it's needed, you can remove the bristle pad for thorough cleaning: First, remove all hair and as much lint as possible, using another comb or brush. Then, pop out the bristle pad by pinching opposite LONG sides of the bristle pad with your thumb and a finger. Swish the pad around in warm soapy water (NEVER SOAK, as this could loosen the bristles) for approximately 60 seconds. Rinse with cold water, shake off, then pat the bristle pad dry with a towel to soak up excess water. The pad should fully air dry before reinstalling it into the handle. To replace the bristle pad, squeeze the long sides again and insert it at the top of the handle first, then push it firmly back into place going all the way around the brush along the edges.
