New Year Goals: Nurturing Self, Embracing Wellness, and Finding Joy

New Year Goals: Nurturing Self, Embracing Wellness, and Finding Joy

Here’s the deal: I’ve never been one who thinks the New Year is the only time to set goals, work on yourself, or set resolutions.  But I do think it is helpful to use this time to hit pause. Ask yourself, what you are grateful for? What do you love about yourself? What do you want to grow in? What worked and what didn’t?

This year, especially the end of it, was absolutely bonkers. I’ve actually been shocked at how I am surviving it, but it is giving me self-awareness to appreciate the growth I have found over the years. Old Abi might not respond so gracefully or have as much peace. Don’t get me wrong I still am anxious, I still don’t have it all down or put together, but I have found self-care, movement, joy, and love all persist and carry me. This year, I want to do more things that help me move towards just that. Things that help me create more of a space of home in myself, creating healing and deep breaths. My goal this year is to practice rest and believe I need it because it is a necessity, not something that must be earned.

Here are some ideas I either do or want to do more of to help move toward more of this space and care. We can’t show up for others if we can’t for ourselves, let’s be grateful for all we have been and grateful there is space to grow even more.

 Prioritize Self-Care for Inner Harmony

Mindful Mornings:
Begin each day with a moment of tranquility. Whether through meditation, journaling, or savoring a cup of tea, establishing quiet time in the morning sets a positive tone for the day.

Pamper Yourself:
Schedule regular self-care routines that include luxurious facials or massages. Nurturing yourself should be a priority, nurturing both body and spirit.

Embrace Ayurvedic Wellness:
Explore Ayurvedic practices like Ayurvedic massages or Somaveda therapy to restore balance and harmony to mind and body. If these are new to you like they were to me I promise it's worth giving them a try. An ayurvedic massage is like a massage but next level, it is a holistic massage and can help provide natural cures for various things such as arthritis or sciatica. Somaveda therapy is Thai yoga therapy. My somerveda therapist is Jennifer Allen and is incredible. I also highly recommend @toca_facials for facial and buccal massages. They can be hard to get into so don't wait to get on the waitlist!

Unplug and Recharge:
Allocate tech-free hours to disconnect from the digital world. Engage in activities that rejuvenate the mind, such as nature walks, creative hobbies, or bonding with loved ones.

Baths for Relaxation:
Incorporate relaxing baths into your routine with soothing oils, bath bombs, or salts. This can be a luxurious and calming way to unwind.

Embrace New Ways to Experience Joy

Exploring Creativity:
Discover a new hobby or rekindle a forgotten passion. Painting, pottery, dancing, or learning a musical instrument can be both enjoyable and therapeutic.

Culinary Adventures:
Experiment in the kitchen with new recipes or cuisines. Cooking can be a joyful experience, allowing creativity to flourish while also nourishing your body and soul.

Intentional Quiet Time:
Commit to finding at least 15 minutes of intentional quiet time per day. This dedicated space can facilitate reflection, relaxation, and mental rejuvenation.

Cultivate Gratitude:
Practice gratitude daily by keeping a gratitude journal or expressing thankfulness to those around you. This simple act can shift focus to the positive aspects of life, fostering a sense of contentment.

Elevate Wellness and Physical Movement

Holistic Approaches:
Explore holistic approaches to wellness, such as hypnotherapy or acupuncture. These practices can promote mental clarity, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.

Prioritize Sleep:
Make quality sleep a non-negotiable. Create a relaxing bedtime routine and ensure you get adequate rest, as it is vital for your physical and mental health.

Movement Matters:
Incorporate physical activity into your routine, not just as a means of exercise but as a way to reconnect with your body. Dance classes, outdoor workouts, or regular walks can invigorate both body and mind.

Taking Vitamins:
Consider incorporating vitamins and supplements into your daily routine to support your overall health and well-being.

Chiropractic Care:
Explore chiropractic care to promote spinal health, reduce discomfort, and enhance your body's natural healing abilities. I recently went to Premier Wellness in SLC with Dr. Kory Branham and it was incredible, expensive but worth every penny in my opinion. Tell them I sent you!
