The Imitation Game
For the last two years, I've done a big series of posts in October where I choose a theme and share something in line with the theme everyday. It was such a fun creative outlet for me and I loved doing it. This year, I turned it into a much bigger project with my Self Portrait Series.
As October passes, I've been reminiscing about those fun posts of years past, so I thought it would be fun to recap them here. In 2020, the idea came to me to highlight some of my favorite Instagram accounts by making my own version of one of their posts. Each day, I shared my copycat post along with their original one, and why I love following them. Let's take a little trip down memory lane...
The people I highlighted are people I admired and followed at the time. I'm still inspired by some of the people I highlighted, but I also realized that I've unfollowed or muted some of these people since then, too. Isn’t it funny how sometimes you need a break from the people you follow? It’s not that I don’t like them anymore. It’s just that I connected with them at a time in my life when I needed them and then, when they weren’t serving me anymore, I let them go. It’s so hard to do that sometimes, but it's so healthy.
